Baking, Buster, Birds and Brown

Let me start with how thankful I am for the great comments you leave me.  I do enjoy reading them and often I even respond to the writer.  I am always so thrilled when I hear from you.

I have been baking with Rhubarb like crazy.  I made muffins yesterday for breakfast.  Then I made two rhubarb cakes in the afternoon.  I wanted to make a gluten-free cake for Katy since she dearly loves rhubarb.  I also wanted to make a cake to bring to Ed.  We went to see his new on-campus apartment.  It is surprisingly nice.  He wanted us to bring him the recliner that had been my dad's that my mom had given him.  He needed a few things, some cookware, cleaning supplies and a lamp.  We did rearrange his furniture which I'm too sure he was exactly happy about but, the chair wouldn't have fit very well.
While I was waiting for the muffins to finish, I had to take this picture of Buster.  He was just so cute sleeping with his very favorite things.  He always has stuff on the rug with him.

We have some birds nests around.  I don't know how the babies will survey if they hatch in this nest.  I'm surprised with the downpours we have had it hasn't been washed away.  There is a down spout next to the house.  You just see the little mama peering over the edge.  She is quite sweet.
Under the rack for the canoe is a robin's nest.  I'm not sure if there are eggs in there yet.  This spot gets used every year and usually produces off spring.  The parents are never very far.
I have been making slow progress this weekend because we have been very busy.  Since we went to see Ed we were gone most of the day, all the chores and errands were done yesterday

I am very pleased with how it is turning out.  The brown house is nearly finished.  I think I'm over half  way done.
It was very cold today.  I only was 58 degrees today.  It was very windy too which made it feel even colder.

Hope you had a wonderful weekend and got much accomplished.

Thanks for stopping.
Keep on Stitching

  1. Yummmm, I must go and pick my neighbor's rhubarb tomorrow and do some baking. She is away, and said to help myself, as she really doesn't want anymore ;-)

  2. Those muffins look so good. I'm waiting for our blueberries to ripen so I can make some muffins and biscuits with them. Love rhubarb but it's hard to find in this area. Love your stitching. Beautiful colors in it.

  3. You have been busy baking, Monica. I'm sure everything is yummy especially coming from your garden.

Buster is adorable. Isn't it funny how our pets need their "lovies?"
We have had a few nests in different places here, too.
There is a recurrent one in our lamp post around the bulb. Seems a little warm but maybe that's just what they need. A new nest is there every year.

Your stitching looks great. It won't be long now 'til you have a finish.

It's so hot and humid here but we are looking for relief over the next few days.
    Have a good week ahead
