Big Ass Ric Rac

I stopped at the quilt store to talk to my friend Arttie who was working, when I spied some black ric rac.  I figured I could use it to finish Ravens and Crows freebie.
It is some big ass ric rac.  The top is conventional size and the bottom is some really big stuff.
I must say it is not easy to work with when turning a 90 degree corner.
I used it and it is a little cattywombus but, I am not going to try and make it better.
I will be posting it in the future.
While I was working on trying to pin this big honkin' ric rac, someone untied my shoe for about the hundredth time today.
Mister smarty pants can get on the couch and brought his food bowl with him for a nap.
He is twice the size he was when we brought him home.  I swear you can see him grow before your eyes.
He continues to be uber pesty and is especially good at annoying Buster.  It won't be too much longer and under the couch will be a Shih Tzu haven.
Weekly update on PS Never More...slow but sure.
Last night, Ed was laying on the couch watching TV and guess who made himself at home.
It was a very cute picture capture on the cell phone.
What did we do without cell phones?

It was a warm weekend.  Today, I think the high was 83.  Tomorrow the high is going to be 54.  That should be interesting.

Hope you have had a wonderful weekend and got much accomplished.  I always get alot accomplished but, not necessarily what I intended to.

Thanks for stopping
Have a wonderful week!

What Havoc a Mouse Can Wrought

When you find remnants of a mouse, you must tear about your kitchen.
Everything was taken out of the cabinets washed.  The cabinets were sprayed with Clorox spray.
Many loads in the dishwasher and extra loads of towels.
This is one time I'm glad my kitchen isn't bigger and it doesn't usually look like this.
In the midst of the mayham, I turned around an found this:  two dogs on a couch.
Henry Ford can get up on the couch if he puts his mind to it.
Finally, the latest on Prairie School Never More.
I was hoping I would have time to do some finishing but, the kitchen was a consuming job.
My cabinets, by the way, do look fantastic.

Bob went to the hardware store to get a few more traps for the basement.
The clerk said the traps were flying off the shelf and the store itself was having problems with mice.
It is that time of the year.
Hope you had a mouse-free weekend.
Thanks for stopping.

Great Day: Got Some Stitching Done

I wasn't so sure I was going to survive the day.  I've been very busy at work and then I had stitching group at my house last night.  Henry Ford was up at 3:30 am with Bob.  Then again at about 5:30 because he was going to work at 6.  His cell phone alarm went off on the dresser.  That meant I had to get out of bed to turn it off.  (ARRGH!)  Then I was up with dogs.  Fortunately at about 7:30 the dogs were taking naps.  I took advantage of that and took a nap too.

I really didn't do much work.  With the new puppy, there has been lots of in and out time.  With that and being the time of the year it is, we got a mouse.  We caught him but, now we are still setting traps to make sure there are no others.  We are washing plates, glasses, silverware etc. as we use it.   Once we make sure there are no others, we need to clean everything.  Thus, no reason to start that process today.  I did clean up some of my annuals and got rid of them.

The dogs have been very good today and tired from stitching group so,  I was able to get things done.  I finished reading an old Mry Higgins Clark book and got some quality stitching time...Hooray.

We did spend some time outside and the Autumn Sedum is beautiful and full, all day with bees.
If you click on the picture to enlarge you can see them much better.

Right after Labor Day, I went to LaCross to be with Katy when she had her endoscopy.  I was able to spend some quality time at the cross stitch store.  Here are some of my finds.  I also got some picture frames at a greatly reduced rate.
I just love those little sleds.  I have another pattern at home but, it  is dfferent.
I did pick up a bunch of thread.  I was looking for something, (not sure what something)
I think the Stacy Nash button trys are fun.
I love the colors in the Bent Creek Thankful Quaker.  It came with the little buttons.
Broke down and after seeing Heartstring Sampler His Eye on the Sparrow,  I fel in love with it,  I got the pattern and thread but fabric was a different situation.  It was almost $75-80 dollars for the fabric so I ordered Antique White and decide I could dye it myself.  I really like how this turned out.  It should work with the pattern.  I figure I will start it after Christmas.
Finally, update on my PS Nevermore.  I may just be able to finish it before Halloween.
I almost was able to finish some projects but, didn't.
I have the portable sewing machine ready to work on around the dogs so they don't go ballistic if I'm in my sewing room.
Hope your week has been going well.
All for now the battery is about to go.

Haven't Had Time

Haven't had much time.
I have been very busy at work.
Then I get home and it is dog duty.
I have pictures on my cell but, haven't had time to move them.
My camera takes picture too slow and Henry Ford is too fast.
The only pictures you can get are ones of him sleeping.
 Sleeping Henry Ford.

He is getting bigger by the day

Making VERY slow progress on Prairie Schooler Never More.  I was hoping I would finish the house before I posted but, heavy sigh, no such luck.

I did buy the Dump Cake Cookbook (as seen on TV) and made a dump cake for dinner:  Apple Cranberry Dump Cake.

Preheat oven to 350
1 21 oz can of Apple pie filling
1 can whole berry cranberry sauce
1 box Vanilla cake mix ( not Jiffy)
1 stick of butter (1/2 cup)  The recipe sliced into thin slices.  I just melted it lots easier.
1/2 c. walnuts...I used pecans.

1.  Spray 9x13 pan with nonstick spray
2.  Spread the apple pie filling on the evenly.  Spread the cranberries evenly on top.  Sprinkle the cake mix evenly on the top.  Drizzle the melted butter.  Sprinkle the nuts on top.
3.  Bake at 350 50-55 minutes.  Wait 15 minutes before serving.

I wasn't so sure about the cranberries but, it was delicious.  My husband really liked it.

Hope you had a great weekend.

Wasn't Going to Post But Here It Is.

I wasn't going to post because it has been just too hectic.
Bob was up at 1 am.
We have started breaking him into his crate.
Last night we were just going to put the one he sleeps in in the large crate and leave the door open.
Well that really worked.
I don't think he liked it at all.
He was up at 1 am and Bob got up with him.
He didn't take the bed out of the crate.
I think he cried until I got up with him at 2 am and cleaned things up and took him outside.
I took the bed out of the crate and he slept until 5 am.
I got up with him again.
Buster got up a little later and they both wanted breakfast.
Usually Buster eats once a day but, he has been chasing a lot and needs more food.
Buster is dealing with him much better and has stopped foaming at the mouth.
 Look!  They are sharing Bob.
Again speed motion but, cute nonetheless.
 The best picture yet!
 One tired Buster but, calmer.
Hooray!!
We are just trying to maintain sanity and tire the puppy out as much as possible.
Have a wonderful week

I Thought I Knew

We have had two other puppies in the past.  I thought this puppy I would be better at this.  I'm not.
I am so confused about crate training etc.  I have read multiple things about it.  One thing will say you can't crate a young puppy the other thing will say crate your puppies at night.  You know what, I don't think it matters until the puppy is old enough anyway.  We are totally changing the strategies.  I have the top off his crate and I'm feeding him in it.  We have it in the living room right now and he's sleeping in it.  I have totally re-arranged the laundry room and moved our pantry cabinet so I can reduce the size of the space that we will keep him in at night and when we are at work.  The space will accommodate his bottom part of his crate and give him room to potty as needed.  A little more manageable size than what we blocked last night until he gets bigger and needs more room and or we can crate him.
Checking out the flowers.
 W
Sleeping in Dad's chair, spoiled dog.

Buster on the other hand is totally stressed out.  I think he would run away from home if he could.
He is having a real drool issue.  Puddle of drool on the couch cushion.
Drool on the screen of the window.
Drool bubble hanging from his chin
Nothing turns a house upside down like a new puppy.  Needless to say, there hasn't been much stitching.

Have a great Labor Day.
