Happy Memorial Day

 Happy Memorial Day.
My Dad was in the Navy during WWII stationed on a troop transport in the Pacific.
Thank you to everyone who has served our nation!

We finally had a beautiful day today.
Saturday and Sunday were intermittent storms and showers.
My awesome husband really worked on the beds.
My flower beds were a disaster.
The last two years have been garden neglectful.
I have had to spend a lot of time helping my Mom.
We had a rose bush take over everything.
What that didn't take over, grass did.
I haven't been able to do much with my bum right leg.
I have a raging case of hamstring tendinosis, heal spur, fascitis....it is getting better.

I haven't been able to do too much on my feet so, I have been stitching more.
Shucks!  That really is tragic....lol!

Did the La-d-da from the winter edition of Punch Needle and Primitive Stitching.
I subbed the silk/dmc with over dyes and like the way it turned out.
Started on the BBD Heart last night on my homemade dyed fabric.
I am pretty pleased with myself!
The next few months are going to be insanely busy at work.
We have a therapist off for maternity leave, two weeks early and won't be back till August.
And the census has skyrocketed!
I am sure that when she comes back it will bottom out and we will all be under scrutiny.
I am getting too old for games and will probably tell my boss to fire me.
I don't think I would be heart broken to collect unemployment.

I almost forgot.
My graph for page views have looked like this for the last two month.
I have been averaging +300 views per day.
I just all of the sudden started doing this.
I don't think I've been hacked but, does anyone have this?
If I have more visitors.....I'm so glad you found me!Thanks for stopping.  Graph of Blogger page views
Hope you had a great weekend.
Keep on stitching!

Another Graduation

Katy graduated with her BS degree in Biology on Saturday.
We are extremely proud of her because of all the adversity she has overcome and her perseverance.
Now, she starts the job search.
She wants to return to North Caroline, Raleigh-Durham are aka the Research Triangle.
She loves working in a lab and has gained some really great skills.

Katy and her dad.

Katy and her mom.
It is a very exciting time!
Just finished Nikycreation Seasonal Band Sampler.
I had started this last summer when I went to NC to visit Katy at UNC Chapel Hill.
That's when she fell in love with the area.

Have been battling a heel spur/plantar fascitis which has now flared up my hamstrings on that side.
I had an MRI 10 days ago to make sure it wasn't anything more than that.  I do have a meniscus tear but my Orthopedic surgeon doesn't think thats what has been causing the pain.
Was on Prednisone for 6 days and now am in PT.
It is slowly getting better but, my PT told me it is going to take a while for it to get better.
I believe that.

I'm sitting at the dining room table and Henry Ford is outside.
Since over the years, the dogs have demolished the patio door screen, we have a screen curtain to keep bugs out but, it also keeps Henry out.
He can't figure it out.

Working on a La-D-Da that was in an issue of PNPS magazine.

Have a great weekend

Life Has Been Very Busy

Life has been very busy.
My mom has been trying to leave the Assisted Living Facility and she has been more confused.
Last Thursday, we moved her to a Memory Care owned by the same family but, since there were no openings where she was at, we had to move her to one about ten miles away.
She seems to be dealing with it as well as can be expected.
She gets more confused in the late afternoon and then that's when she starts to wander.
It was a difficult decision and it is very hard to see one's parent failing.

I did some fabric dying today.
I tried to find the fabric this pattern called for.
When I couldn't find it in my usual places, I decided I could try doing it myself.
I had gotten some red dye thinking I would need it but, I didn't.
I used 3 cups of water and heated it a little in the microwave and added a teaspoon of vinegar and a teaspoon of brown Rit dye.
I had a scrap of white linen and tested it.
I only used the brown dye and I think it turned out amazing.
The light color, I only dipped once and ironed it.
The darker piece I would dip three times and iron it.
I did that until I got the right, nine times.
I ironed it every three dips.
It turned out pretty close to the color on the pattern.
I have been working on Nikyscreation Seasonal Band Sampler.
I started this on my trip to North Carolina last summer since it was smaller and easily portable.
I changed a few colors since I didn't like the way it was looking.
The green the pattern called for just looked too light to me so I swapped it out for 3052.
My next project is from Punch Needle and Primitive Stitching the Winter issue.
It is a La-D-Da
Again the fabric was one I didn't have and I didn't like any in my stash.
It's called Wren and I thought it had a grey tinge to it.
I got some black Rit dye and just added a few drops.
I think I'm pretty okay with how that one turned out with the thread.
Here is how it looks compared to white linen.
I hope all you Mom's out there had a good Mother's Day.
Mine has been kind of low key.
Bob always helps at the Mother's Day breakfast at church but, I don't like to go to that.
I did see my mom, and today is also her birthday.
I ordered a cake for everyone to enjoy.
Yesterday, I met my bestie's from college for lunch in Appleton.
We usually get together when I'm in Milwaukee for a conference but, I'm not able to go this year because of Katy's graduation.

Have a wonderful week
