Like I said, it has been a monumental amount of work. Besides packing, there was a lot of cleaning out of stuff. We have burned 3 grocery bags stuffed with old records. Then there are the many phone calls and stops to change addresses. I have a few more things to take care of but, hopefully it is winding down. I tried to interface her bank with my Quicken but, they aren't connected. I will have to do it the old fashion way and manually access online.
Enough of that.
Here is the update of my His Eye is on the Sparrow
Head on angle.
My Market acquisitions
Stacy Nash Cherry Hollow Farm Sampler
The floss colors are so beautiful!
Not a great picture but, I love this sampler.
Chessie and Me 1801 House.
I have loved little boxes since I was a little girl.
I was always on the look out for little boxes.
That is all for now.
I dvr'ed Greys Anatomy for later and it is almost time for Scandal.
Thanks for stopping and the wonderful words of encouragement during the last few difficult months. I think the Assisted Living is the place for her to be.
She is three minutes from me.
Have a great weekend and hope everything is well for you.
Keep on Stitching

I love all your stash! Plus you are making good progress on "His eye...." I 'll share something that I thought was funny. After moving into her apartment in the living facility, my step-mother said it was fine and in 20 years or so she would be adjusted!!!!! She will be well into her 100's by then.
ReplyDeleteNice new stash acquisitions, Monica! Your WIP is coming along and is stunning. Glad your Mom is settling in and content is okay. I had to chuckle because her comment (I'm not happy, but I'm content) as my grandmother's was similar except she used the word 'resigned' instead of content. She did become content/okay with it so hope your Mom gets there as well.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful weekend!

Lovely new stash. Sounds to me like your mum is settling in well following her initial doubts. Three minutes from you is absolutely perfect too. I had to laugh at the 8 pairs of black pants...that sounds like my mum!

ReplyDeleteI went through exactly the same thing with my mom six years ago.
ReplyDeleteShe hated to leave her home, but had to. She said the same thing about the Assisted Living, she didn't love it but didn't hate it.
Since then she has deteriorated greatly, (she's 91), and needs full care....she can't even get herself in or out of bed, or dress herself, etc.
Trust me when I say you've done the best thing for her! She's in good hands, and you will rest much easier knowing she's being taken care of, especially during a winter like this past one. It's so nice to know she's inside, warm, taken care of, not worrying about if she has enough food to last through the storm, or what if the power goes out.
I know it was a lot of work, and it's emotionally tough as well, but once you all get used to the change it will all be worth it.
Feel free to email me anytime with any questions you might have. Sometimes its nice to talk to someone who's been through it:)
I always have a Mother who is 87--she still lives her home of many many years. Lots of health issues but mind is great. She tires easily--congestive heart failure. Aging parents is a challenge on so many levels. Glad you are making progress. Will need a dumpster and semi to deal with Mother's household goods. Love your market acquisitions--I also purchased the Stacy Nash sampler and can't wait to start it
