YIKES!!! and the Farmers Market

So I get up this morning to help Katy with the Farmer's Market.  I always check my email first.  I have an email from the credit card company anti-fraud division.  You know it isn't going to be good if the anti-fraud division is contacting you.  Of course, my computer is full of security to not allow cookies,  I can't just go online to check what is going on.  I have to call.  After about 10 "your call is important to us, please wait for the next available representative"....I talk to a live person because the only thing the automative teller can tell you is the amount and a Direct Marketing company from Portland.  I don't recall any direct marketing purchases from any where let alone Portland.  Sure enough when I talk to a real person,  it still doesn't sound familar, and it is from last night at 9:30.  Last night at 9:30 I was dozing in the lazy boy with a bag of ice on my knee (yes, it still hurts from the cortisone) and not purchasing anything from a direct market to the tune of 73.92, I ordered coffee beans earlier last night but the sum was way different.  Needless to say, I'm getting a new credit card in 7 to 10 days.

Was at the Farmer's Market then after a quick stop at the Bakery for muffins...and they were tasty!!!! Maple Syrup Breakfast Muffins, absolutely amazing.
Here is a pic of some of my purchases:

Fresh blueberries, summer squash and zucchini that we grilled for dinner tonight, and garlic, pepper jelly.  The honey bear is 2# of local honey.  It is monumental.  (Notice the cute cross stitch piece in the background),

The storm that pushed through this afternoon ripped the roof off the local airport but, significantly lowered the temp from 90 to 66 degrees.  Yeah, hate the heat.

MEGA OUCH!

Had a cortisone injection in the Biceps Fermoris ( hamstring). It hurt like mad! The orthopedic doc he felt he nailed it because of how much the injection hurt. My foot was numb for about forty-five minutes. Like a trooper, I went back to work. I think that is why it is still hurting tonight. The lidocaine wore off way too fast, another reason it really hurts. :(. Took a pain pill and had a piece of homemade raspberry pie. Before I gork out...

Raspberry Pie

4 cups fresh unwashed raspberry (they get too mushy otherwise)
7/8 c. sugar
5 tbsp flour
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1 1/2 tbsp butter
Top and bottom pie crust

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Mix dry ingredients together gently. Place bottom of piecrust in pie plate, spoon in berry mixture. Divide butter and dot top. Place top crust on, crimp edge. Cut slits into top. Place in oven, put a pan on rack below to catch any juice. Bake 35-45 minutes or until top crust is golden brown. Major Yum!

The Weekend (maybe before that alittle)

Boy, what a busy weekend.  What a busy week.
Thursday, the kids and I went to the in-laws house that we thought was sold (I'll get to that) to sell stuff.  We had posted in on Craigs List because it was a last minute sort of thing.  This is just a very minute amount. One guy came in during the sale and thought the carpet was cool.  It is 1970's shag that you swear needs to mowed every couple of weeks.  We had a decent sale for not really advertising which paid for some of the expenses.....It was incredibly hot, 95 degrees with a heat index of 105, and try and hoist an oven out of a basement like that.  UGH!!! :(
By the end of the weekend, my husband, BIL, nephew and daughters BF hauled away:
2 Tons of scrap wood all used of course
1 Ton of metal
3 Tons of crap, it was amazing what they found.  A one foot tall jar of paper clips, two jars of old pipe caulking that looked like something furry and dead, too many nuts, bolts and bent nails to count.  It was amazing and repulsive at the same time.

During the midst of all this, the realitor couldn't get my in-laws, either because the phone isn't working or more likely they can't hear it, to tell them the sale fell through.  The buyers weren't able to get the loan from the bank.  They had been pre-approved but who knows for how much.'

So it is pretty much cleaned out.  A couple more trips to the dump and then its done.  So we had everyone over hear for dinner last night, which was pretty spur of the moment, after we had been at the Farmers Market all morning.  Katy did have an awesome day!!!!

Today after mounds of laundry, we saw the new Harry Potter.  That was awesome.  It is sad that it feels like an end of an era.  I started reading the first book when the twins were 5.  We read the first four books completely out loud.  I don't know who enjoyed them more, the kids or the husband.  I think they grew up with Harry Potter.  I wasn't so sure I was going to like the 3D but, in this one scene with Voldemort.....I won't spoil it, I wanted to reach out and grab something.  If you saw the movie you know what I mean.

Off for now.  Go back to see the orthopedic doc tomorrow.  I hope another cortisone injection will work.  I swear I am never going to scrub another floor on my hands or knees again.

One more pic.  My lovely Huck, I miss him so....

Too hot to cook...sorta

So, it was way too hot to cook, well maybe I cooked a little. It was 97 today with a heat index of 105. That should be hot enough to cook something without an oven.

Chicken Pasta Salad
3 cups cooked chicken
3 cups cooked bow tie pasta
Half a red pepper chopped
Half a yellow pepper chopped
Stalk of celery chopped
Brianna's creamy poppyseed dressing (however much that tastes good)
Mix wall, served chilled

Sometimes I add chopped strawberries.

Love this when it's hot.

Katy's Beads

We had fun at the Farmers Market.  It always exciting when she sells some of her creations.  She even had orders for custom pieces.  So many beads, so little time.  I do get to help once and a while.  I love messing with the beads.  It may be even more fun to dig around the bead box at Twisted Sisters looking for hidden treasures.

Hooray it's friday

Hooray its Friday!!! It has been a long week since we lost our beloved dog, Huck. I don't think Buster the Shi Tzu is taking it well. He may need some puppy Prozac. We all know that Huck is in a better place.

Tomorrow is the Farmers Market, where my daughter Katy sells jewelry. I will post pictures when I take some. She is just trying to feed the Bead Beast.

First Blog

Welcome to my first blog, The Hoopless Stitcher.  I named it that because I am an avid cross stitcher and I don't use a hoop or Q snaps.

It seems likes lots of things have been happening to me and my family.  The next year will be even more busy since my twins will be heading to college for the first year.  I will probably blog alot about them, my projects, cooking and wine.

So if you are reading don't be afraid to chime in.  I look forward from hearing from you
